Blue Bell Creameries in Lewisville and local radio station KLTY-FM are teaming up to help those less fortunate stay cool this summer.
Everyone who brings a box fan or non-perishable food items to the Blue Bell Lewisville branch at 1202 North Stemmons Freeway on Wednesday, August 4, from 10am to 7pm will receive a free Blue Bell Ice Cream treat.
Donors can also tour the Blue Bell cold storage distribution center, including a brief stop in the giant freezer that is 20 degrees below zero.
KLTY-FM will be broadcasting live from the event all day, encouraging listeners to come out and take a break from the heat and help out their community.
The Fan & Food Drive will benefit Christian Community Action of Lewisville, which will distribute the supplies to families in need throughout their service area within 42 communities throughout Denton, Collin, Dallas, Tarrant and Wise counties.
“Each year we end up donating several hundred box fans and several car loads of food to folks who don’t have the luxury of air conditioning or enough food for their families,” said Les Clark, Blue Bell Creameries Lewisville Branch Manager.
