School board wants input on taxes

The Lewisville Independent School District’s Board of Trustees is seeking community input as it faces a $22 million deficit.

Officials have posted a survey online and are asking LISD taxpayers to provide feedback on a possible tax ratification election. Click here to take the survey.

The board has scheduled a tax rate public hearing on July 12 at the William T. Bolin Center Administrative Center, 1565 W. Main St., in Lewisville at 6 p.m.

Immediately following the public hearing, the board will continue to discuss tax rate options and the 2010-11 rate.

The current Maintenance & Operations tax rate is $1.04 per $100 valuation. The district has $103.8 million in its fund balance, otherwise known as a savings account, but the state recommends that the fund balance be at least $113 million, according to district officials.

The survey will remain posted through July 11.
