Over the past several weeks, at least five nighttime vehicle burglaries have occurred in Highland Village, according to the Highland Village Police Department.
Most of the incidents have involved unlocked vehicles with valuables left in plain sight.
The crimes occurred in the following locations:
2700 block Chapel Springs Dr.
300 block of Highland Lake Dr.
2200 block Justin Rd.
2900 block Justin Rd.
600 block Timbercrest Cir.
Police said that while this type of crime is unusual for Highland Village, there are a few steps that residents can take to minimize their risk.
Whenever possible residents should secure their vehicles inside their closed garage.
If they cannot garage their vehicle, keep it off the street, lock and activate the alarm system, and remove any valuables from sight.
If residents see any suspicious activity, they should report it immediately to the Highland Village Police Communications Center at 972-317-6551 or dial 911.
