County receives bond rating upgrade

Denton County officials were recently notified that Moody’s Investors Service had recalibrated its ratings and assigned the county their “AAA” rating.

The new rating means that the county now maintains the highest credit ratings available from both Standard & Poors and Moody’s Investors Service, according to county officials. Standard & Poors had already awarded Denton County its highest possible rating of “AAA”.

“While affirming the excellent track record of fiscal responsibility of the county, these high ratings mean that taxpayers should see even greater savings in the interest cost the County pays on its bonds,” said Pct. 4 Commissioner Andy Eads.
