Country Lakes celebrates Public Safety Day

Post Ad – Top

The Country Lakes community in Argyle held its annual Summer Kick Off in conjunction with Public Safety Day, sponsored by the Country Lakes HOA and Argyle Police and Fire Departments on June 5th.

Residents were treated to many sponsored fun activities while learning about public safety.

Hunter Allen from Hillwood International Energy contributed to the event by sponsoring Tim the Balloon Guy and the snow cone machine.

Argyle United Methodist Church graciously sponsored the Giggly Kids games and bounce houses while William Slattery with the Game Truck donated their game trailer which contained all sorts of video, Wii, and Guitar Hero games for children of all ages.

Several public safety agencies provided important information and handouts to the public.

Argyle Police and Fire Departments had their police car, fire truck, and ambulance on display for the public to view and explore.

Amazing maneuvers were performed by the Denton PD motorcycle officer. Children were able to practice 911 calls with the Denton County 911 operator and learned how to crawl safely through smoke in the Flower Mound Family Safety House.

The Sheriff Department and the Denton County American Red Cross, along with a group of Denton County CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) members, supplied very helpful information in case of an emergency.

Red emergency preparedness kits were given away by the Health Emergency Alert Response Team from the Denton County Health Department.

Two lucky dogs were even adopted from Brian the animal control officer.

While everyone was learning about public safety and having fun, they were also treated to free hotdogs, sausage on a stick cooked by Chief Tackett and Captain Cottle of the Argyle PD, along with chips, soda, water, snow cones, and popcorn all supplied by the Argyle Police Department and Country Lakes HOA.

If you would like more information about public safety or any of the sponsors, please contact Cathy Krenek with the Argyle Police Department at 940-464-7254, Marlene Tackett with the Argyle Fire District at 940-464-7102, or Davie Lloyd with the Country Lakes HOA.
