Hospital celebrates delivery of first baby

The first baby cries at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound were heard Sunday morning at 9:56 a.m. as parents Kevin and Joy Franklin welcomed into the world their son, Korbin D. Franklin, weighing 6 lbs. 15 oz. and 20 inches long.

The hospital’s staff had been anxiously awaiting the first baby to be born at the facility, which opened on April 30.

“We were scheduled to come in for delivery on June 1st, but Korbin couldn’t wait.  He really wanted to be the first baby,” said Joy Franklin.

Joy Franklin is a long-time Town of Flower Mound employee who works in the town’s Transportation Services Department, and is a patient of Amy S. Lungren, M.D. of Flower Mound Women’s Health.

Among the first gifts Franklin received from the hospital was a $50 Babies R Us gift card, a $100 savings bond from PointBank, a take home casserole from Swirl Bakery, a free semester of parent and child classes at Win Kids Sports and Learning Center, an Edible Arrangement, and a free family portrait session from Capture the Moment Photography.

Located on a 12-acre site in the heart of Flower Mound, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound is a full-service, 103-bed facility with over 250 physicians on its medical staff who practice a full range of specialties.
