Railroad work to close freeway ramp

The Garden Ridge exit ramp from northbound I-35E in Lewisville and the railroad crossing at Eagle Point Road in Lewisville will be closed starting this Monday, March 15, and continuing for about eight weeks for construction on the Denton County Transportation Authority’s A-train passenger rail service between Denton and Carrollton.

During the construction, northbound motorists should exit at Denton Road and go south on I-35E to access Garden Ridge.

Traffic will eventually be moved to a temporary ramp and crossing just north of the existing Garden Ridge ramp, according to Highland Village officials. In order to build the temporary ramp and crossing, workers will close the northbound right lane of I-35E from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

The A-train project includes construction of 21 miles of regional rail service along the I-35E corridor in Denton County and five train stations.
