YMCA begins annual fundraising campaign

The Cross Timbers Family YMCA annual Partners Campaign is underway, with a goal of raising over $117,000 to support the Y’s scholarship programs.

According to organizers, funds collected from the campaign provide members of the community who are unable to pay for enrollment an opportunity to participate in the many YMCA programs, including classes, sports programs and summer camp.

At a recent campaign kickoff, executive director Tricia Meinhold introduced a young mother of three who told her moving story. A serious illness and a house fire created severe financial setbacks that would have prevented any extras, such as day camp, for her children.  Due to the funds generated by the Partners Campaign, this woman’s children were able to enroll in the YMCA programs and get the care and recreation they need.

All of the money collected in the campaign stays at the local ‘Y’ in Flower Mound to support its programs, organizers said.

In addition to youth and sports programs, YMCA scholarships allow seniors to participate in Active Older Adult classes and activities, and provide free memberships to active duty military, full-time clergy, cancer survivors and those involved in Big Brothers and Sisters programs.
