Duke Seeks Reelection to LISD Board

Kathy Duke recently announced her intent to run for a third term for the Lewisville Independent School District’s Board of Trustees this May.

“It has been an honor to serve our community for the past six years,” Duke said.  “I believe my background and knowledge about LISD will allow me to further advance the quality of our schools.”

As Vice President of the LISD Board of Trustees, Duke chairs the Board’s Communication Committee.  While chairing the committee, Duke assisted in the district-wide service campaign to bring awareness of non-profit organizations serving students and their families, according to a press release.

The first service campaign benefited Pedi-Place, which provides healthcare for children in need.  Through the campaign, LISD raised $76,000 for the nonprofit organization and the campaign received the Texas School Public Relations Association’s Crystal Award in 2009.

“This community is my home and my children’s home,” Duke said, “By serving as an LISD Board member and dedicating time to various service organizations, I want to continue giving back to the area that has provided me with so much.”

Duke currently serves on the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound Governing board and was past president of nonprofit Southern Denton County Neighbor to Neighbor, Past Chairman of Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce  and has served as a board member on various organizations, including the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce, Lewisville Chamber of Commerce, Lewisville Board of Adjustments, Flower Mound Rotary Club, Cross Timbers YMCA, Youth and Family Counseling, Lewisville Education Foundation, and Pedi-Place. 

Duke attended LISD schools from kindergarten through high school and is a 1986 graduate of Lewisville High School. Recently, she was inducted into the LHS Hall of Fame.

Election Day is Saturday, May 8.
