AVFD dedicates new fire station

A formal dedication ceremony and open house was held on Nov. 14 at Argyle Fire Station No. 513 in Lantana.

Located on Copper Canyon Rd. about a mile north of FM 407, the new 10,400 square-foot facility serves the eastern portion of the Argyle Fire District, including Copper Canyon, Lantana and Bartonville, in addition to providing ambulance service to Double Oak.

The fire department will access Lantana via the end of Golf Club Drive with a temporary asphalt road funded jointly by Lantana’s Fresh Water Supply Districts and the fire department.

With three 80-foot bays to accommodate double parking of fire and rescue vehicles, the new station is projected to significantly reduce response times to fire and medical calls in Lantana and the surrounding area, according to Argyle Fire Chief Mac Hohenberger.

“This new station staffed full time with five emergency service professional will improve emergency response times to area residents and improve the capabilities of the emergency personnel responding,” said Chief Hohenberger.

The station is home to a new fire engine, ambulance and brush truck and has office space for Sheriff’s Department Deputies to use for writing reports.

Lantana’s developer, Republic Property Group, donated 2.7 acres of land on the east side of Lantana for the new station several years ago.

“As our community continues to grow, we’re extremely happy to have this new public safety facility in Lantana to provide excellent emergency services to our residents as well as the surrounding communities,” said Mark Wagner, president of Republic Property Group.
